A term of seemingly, distressingly, limitless application

[hat tip: Sully]

I mean, of course, douchebag. I worry that the word is just too perfect -- that it seems to too completely encapsulate all kinds of baggery, from the guy wearing sunglasses on the train, to the guy who waxes his eyebrows and very much looks as though he waxes his eyebrows, all the way to the guy who's rude to the waitress. It's just no good when a single word takes over for a bunch of other, more precise words, but always now I find myself saying, aloud and in my heart, in all sorts of situations: "What a douche!"

You see the dilemma. Lexical rigour versus what simply feels good.
